Product history: The S-mine, commonly known as the “Bouncing Betty,” was a German anti-personnel mine used extensively during World War II. Designed to cause maximum casualties, it was triggered by pressure or tripwire. Upon activation, the mine launched itself to waist height before detonating, scattering steel ball bearings and fragments in all directions. This airburst effect made it especially lethal against infantry in open areas or advancing formations. The S-mine was widely feared for its effectiveness and psychological impact. Deployed in defensive minefields, forests, and beaches, it caused severe injuries and slowed enemy movement.
