Product history: The Hafthohlladung was a German magnetic anti-tank charge used during World War II for close-range attacks on armoured vehicles. It consisted of a shaped explosive charge fitted with strong magnets, allowing soldiers to attach it directly to a tank’s metal surface. Once placed, a timed fuse gave the user moments to seek cover before detonation. Designed to penetrate heavy armour, it was highly effective but extremely dangerous to deploy, requiring soldiers to approach enemy vehicles at close quarters. The Hafthohlladung reflected Germany’s emphasis on infantry-based anti-tank solutions and influenced later magnetic mine designs worldwide.
