Product history: The M1A1 bazooka was an American shoulder-fired anti-tank rocket launcher developed during World War II to counter armoured vehicles and fortifications. Introduced in 1943 as a simplified version of the M1, it fired a 2.36-inch shaped-charge rocket capable of penetrating tank armour. Lightweight and relatively easy to use, the bazooka gave infantry portable firepower previously unavailable. It was operated by a two-man team, one aiming and firing while the other loaded. Though limited by range and early reliability issues, the M1A1 proved influential, inspiring later rocket launchers worldwide. Its psychological impact boosted morale and altered small-unit anti-armour tactics significantly globally.
