1/16 - German Gas Mask Containers

Product history: German Second World War gas mask canisters were metal storage tubes issued to soldiers to protect their respirators from dirt, damp, and damage. Usually worn on a shoulder strap or attached to equipment, they carried the gas mask and sometimes extra items such as anti-gas accessories. Early canisters were often stronger and more neatly made, while later wartime examples became simpler as production was rushed. They were used by the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, Waffen-SS, and other services, even though large-scale gas warfare did not occur in Europe. Their distinctive ribbed shape became a common part of the German soldier’s field equipment.
