Product history: The Mills bomb was the standard British hand grenade used throughout World War II. First introduced in 1915, it remained in service due to its reliability and effectiveness. Its distinctive segmented cast-iron body was designed to fragment upon detonation, dispersing shrapnel over a wide area. Activated by pulling a pin and releasing a lever, it featured a short delay fuse. Widely used by British and Commonwealth forces, the Mills bomb was valued for its durability, simplicity, and ease of use in trench warfare and close combat situations across multiple theatres of war.
